The Scholarly Efforts of Shaykh Isa Jundallah Rahimahullah
Abstract
This article presents a biographical and scholarly overview of Shaykh Isa Jandullah (رحمه الله), a distinguished Islamic scholar, spiritual guide, and reformer from Sindh who later resided in Burhanpur, India. He was a multifaceted figure known for his deep knowledge in Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith, jurisprudence, and Sufism, earning him titles such as Sahib al-Tafsir, Ayn al-‘Urafa’, and al-Masih al-Awliya’. His lineage reflects a rich spiritual and scholarly heritage, tracing back to prominent figures of Sindh and the Indian subcontinent. He was born in 962 AH in the Sindhi village of “Pat” and passed away in Burhanpur after a life of about 69 years marked by scholarly contribution, spiritual guidance, and socio-religious reform. His family played a vital role in upholding Tawheed, reviving Sunnah, eradicating bid‘ah, and promoting Islamic da‘wah and jihad.
