Abstract

Urdu poetry has long been a rich tapestry of emotions, spirituality, and philosophical depth, with the themes of love and mysticism playing a central role. This article explores the intricate relationship between Ishq-e-Majazi (worldly love) and Ishq-e-Haqiqi (divine love) in Urdu poetry, tracing their evolution from the early to the modern era. The study highlights how poets like Mir Taqi Mir, Mirza Ghalib, and Allama Iqbal have woven these themes into their works, creating a unique blend of emotional and spiritual expression. The article also examines the use of Sufi symbols such as "wine," "tavern," "the mystic," and "the seeker" in Urdu poetry, which serve as metaphors for spiritual enlightenment. Furthermore, it delves into the philosophical underpinnings of love and mysticism, analyzing their impact on society, literature, and thought. Through this exploration, the article aims to shed light on how the fusion of love and mysticism has shaped Urdu poetry, making it a profound and timeless art form.
