Abstract

This study examines the role of international organizations, with a particular focus on the United Nations, in managing global conflicts and humanitarian crises. In an era marked by rising armed conflicts, forced displacement, climate-induced disasters, and political instability, international organizations play a critical role in promoting peace, coordinating humanitarian aid, and supporting post-conflict reconstruction. The study investigates how effectively these organizations respond to crises, the challenges they face in implementation, and the extent to which their interventions contribute to sustainable peace and human security. A descriptive and mixed-method research design is employed. Secondary data is collected from United Nations reports, peacekeeping mission records, humanitarian response statistics, World Bank datasets, and peer-reviewed journal articles. Quantitative data is analyzed using frequency trends of conflict interventions and humanitarian response time, while qualitative analysis focuses on policy effectiveness and operational challenges. The study identifies key problems including limited funding, political constraints within the UN Security Council, delayed response times, and dependency on member states. Despite these challenges, results indicate that UN-led peacekeeping missions and humanitarian agencies significantly reduce conflict intensity and improve crisis response coordination. Measured outcomes include response time efficiency, reduction in conflict escalation rates, refugee assistance coverage, and peacekeeping mission success rates. The findings highlight that stronger international cooperation and reform in decision-making structures can enhance the effectiveness of global crisis management systems.
