Analyzing the New Trend of Film Adaptation As The Emerging Genre in Bollywood
Abstract
The research explores the historical development of film adaptation in Bollywood, from a rare practice to a traditional one, one that many directors and studios employ today. It evaluates the multiple inspirations of such adaptations. Besides, the study explores rationales and creative urges that drive filmmakers to remake existing productions. It inquires the economic forces behind the boom in adaptations by assessing box office performance, source of revenue and investment trends. It is also mindful of the effects of technological advancement and globalization in facilitating intercultural communication and defining styles and decisions in adaptation. The Bollywood film industry is in its massive transformation, one of the main traits of which is the increase in the popularity of film adaptations. The dynamic of the film adaptation in the Bollywood film industry is explored in this research with an examination of its historical context, the motivation behind its development, the effect it has had on the economy, and the cultural resonance it has had within the industry. This research is based on the synthesis of knowledge in the vast range of academic sources, industry studies, and empirical data sheds light on the growing importance of adaptations as a lucrative strategic approach to the Indian movie industry. By discovering the intricate aspects of adaptation, this study contributes to the understanding of the dynamic cinematic space in which Bollywood functions and engages with the global narrative trends.
