Abstract

Mohsin Kakurvi, Amir Meenai and Ahmad Raza Barelvi are among the most distinguished classical and modern Urdu na’at poets whose works reflect a profound devotional consciousness. Each of them developed a distinct poetic vision in expressing reverence for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). Their na’atiya poetry encompasses multiple dimensions of prophetic praise, such as the perfection of the Prophet’s (S.A.W) character, the excellence of his moral conduct, and the spiritual radiance of his life. However, this study specifically examines their poetic portrayal of the blessed physical beauty of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). By depicting the Prophet’s luminous countenance, graceful attributes and matchless elegance, these poets evoke intense emotional attachment within the hearts of believers. Such descriptions nurture deeper love, reverence and obedience, intensifying the spiritual longing to behold the Prophet (S.A.W) and motivating devotees to follow his teachings with greater sincerity and devotion. Thus, the aesthetic celebration of the Prophet’s beauty in their poetry becomes a powerful source of spiritual inspiration and a means of strengthening the believer’s relationship with Allah and His Messenger.
