MUEENA NUSRAT: A FORGOTTEN POETESS OF HYDERABAD, SINDH
Abstract
Hyderabad is a popular region in terms of poetry and literature. Many literary figures were born from here. Hyderabad is full of such figures. However, some literary figures are not mentioned. One of such unknown literary figures is Moina Nusrat (2011-1931). Moina Nusrat was the younger sister of Khaliq Ibrahim Khaliq (2006-1926). She migrated with her family after the partition of India and settled in Hyderabad, Sindh. She married twice but had no children. She spent most of her life in Hyderabad. He spent the last days of his life in Karachi and passed away there. Dadhyal, Nanhyal and his family were endowed with excellent literary taste. There were also poets among them. He was inspired by this environment to write poetry and prose. His special tendency in poetry was towards ghazals. During his studies, he came across the poetic side of his school teacher Fida Khalidi (1920-2001), and thus he started taking corrections from him. Miraj Jami, Aftab Mutthar, Muhammad Islam, and Sabih Rahmani are his teachers. He used to participate in poetry festivals in Karachi and Hyderabad, especially literary meetings. Several poets were also read in India. His only collection of poetry, "The Colors of Pictures", was published in Hyderabad in 1990. The collection includes hymns, naats, and 62 ghazals. Includes commentary by Fida Khalidi, Farid Shamsi (Alig) and Allama Nashur Wahidi (Kanpuri). The mention of Moina Nusrat as a poet is the discovery of the missing link in poetry and literature, and it is a step towards completing the mention of Hyderabad poets.
