AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE DIFFERENT MEANINGS OF THE WORD REVELATION “WAHI” IN THE HOLY QURAN AND THEIR USE
Abstract
This research paper explores the various meanings and usages of the term "Wahy" (revelation) in the Qur'an. The study delves into its multiple interpretations, including Taqwini Wahy (the cosmic order), Wahy in terms of verbal communication to prophets, Wahy as an indication or signal, Wahy as the sending of a message or information, and Wahy as whispers or satanic suggestions. The paper discusses how the Qur'an uses the term "Wahy" in different contexts, emphasizing the diverse forms of divine communication, and the distinction between Allah's guidance and satanic whispers. The importance of this topic lies in its ability to clarify the concept of divine revelation in Islam, which is central to understanding the communication between Allah and His messengers. By studying these various meanings of Wahy, this research provides deeper insight into how divine messages were conveyed to the prophets and how they are understood in Islamic thought. The objectives of this study are to examine the different connotations of "Wahy" in the Qur'an, analyze its implications in various contexts, and highlight the differences between divine guidance and the misleading whispers of Satan. Furthermore, this research aims to explore how these forms of revelation impact the beliefs and practices of Muslims. The study concludes with the following recommendations: Further research should be conducted on the different meanings of "Wahy" in Qur'anic studies. Scholars should enhance their understanding of divine revelation through systematic analysis of classical and contemporary exegeses. In-depth research on the effects of Taqwini Wahy in the natural world should be encouraged. Examples of Wahy as an indication should be studied further to better understand its role in guiding human behavior. Awareness programs should be held to educate the public on the distinction between divine guidance and satanic whispers.
